Who is Susan Hook

Susan Hook is a 20 year old girl who has been fascinated by cosplay since she fell for the looks of Karai, a character in the TMNT (2012) animation cartoon. Ever since then she has been developing her cosplay skills and tried out many things to see what would fit her personality the best.

She started in the year 2014 with her first official cosplay, Marco from Attack on Titan at the dutch anime convention called: Tsunacon.

Undertale

After that more conventions came and went. Susan her style stayed at anime for a little until she discovered it was also okay to cosplay anyone she would like. So her favorite game came in shot, Undertale. She had done a few cosplays from Undertale and met many of her today known friends at these conventions as Undertale characters.

Maui from Moana

After the Undertale hype went down, Susan found out that cosplaying characters that aren’t cosplayed a lot really gave her a boost. It made her feel great, appreciated and she wanted to do more. So as soon as the movie: Moana from Disney came out. She knew she had one cosplay she was going to be more then proud of.

Maui was one of her projects that she worked hard on. Being a low budget cosplayer, this was one new experience for her but also something she really wanted to do. So she started with the suit, a muscle suit bought at a party store and worked to work on the tattoo’s.

And once the suit was done it was time to work on the Hook. Another challenge Susan was not familiar with since she never made a prop before in her life.

And once the skirt was done, Maui was ready to go. She didn’t knew her cosplay was going to be such a success. It was something she was quite proud of, something she absolutely loved. She took this cosplay to many conventions but when the Hook was finished it became a success for her. People loved it and she was glad that a cosplayer like her could bring the same effect.

Maui woke up a lot in Susan her mind, made her grow and see cosplay in a new light. She is going for cosplays now that match her body and make people laugh and smile more then they ever did before.

Dolores Umbridge

One of Susan her new and favorite cosplays is Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter. She has been a big fan of Harry Potter since she was a little girl and had many cosplays from it. But none of that really looked out the way she wanted. Then, with the body look in mind, Susan found out that she actually could pull off one amazing Umbridge cosplay. She isn’t like the character at all but she wanted to know if it would work out.

” The feeling of being Umbridge is something I have never experienced in my life before. You get love for the way people hate your character. People have a laugh with you and absolutely adore it. It felt, for once, great to be ‘hated’ ”

Harry Potter meetings

Every once in a while Susan can be found at great Harry Potter conventions where she met lots and lots of friends. Here she tried to have a new look everytime, finding out which Harry Potter character matched her the best. Before Umbridge she cosplayed: Harry Potter, student Molly Weasley , Pansy Parkinson and student Bellatrix.

Being scared on stage this was hard but she knew that a brave man once told her: ” You can do it, if something goes wrong no one will notice but you, have courage because I know you can do this. “
